... and eat it, too!

I've heard tales, from time to time, of people making cakes with sodas -- typically Coke. I'm always up for any new ideas involving soda. Coke could come up with a Clove and Honey flavored Coke, and I'd be the first in line to buy a case. As I was out today getting some goodies to restock my candy dish at work, I found some strange new cakes all lined up in a huge display. There was Hawaiian Punch, 7-Up, and yes, Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper Creme Cake. Each was heavily glazed, looking delecitibly sweet, and I instinctively picked one up and put it in my cart.

After dinner I grabbed a slice, and let me tell you, it was pretty damn good. Not too heavy like a pound cake, but it did have a certain hint of soda flavor to it. It was marbled with a wonderful red coloring, which I'm sure was simply red dye and not actually swirls of Dr. Pepper.

Even my cat seemed ensnared by it! To be fair, though, he's still on steroids from his urinary track infection, and has been eating everything in sight since then. He has mad roid rage.
