Back to School
Today the kids in town went back to school. Fluffed and primped, showing off new backpacks and catching up on summer what-have-you's. New schedules, new goods, new misery. But as this fall comes closer and closer, I have one old memory of going back to school on my mind. You see, 10 years ago I was going back to 8th grade. In eight grade I wrote my first fanfic.... and I didn't just post if anywhere. I posted in on my website. Godspeed if you ever stumble across it, because I didn't have spell-check when I was 13.
So this fall I will, in fact, be celebrating a decade of online havoc. I know it seems strange, and people seem to write me off as a copycat, but the fact of the matter is I've been in this game a lot longer than some of the other webmasters out there. It was when AOL stopped charging hourly rates. It was when GeoCities gave you a big block to type in your own damn HTML and handcode your own damn website. I was the queen of TelevisionCity/5291.
The sad thing is, as much as I would like the pinpoint the exact day I put my neck out online, finding it is proving an impossible task. Archive.org is only taking me as far back as '97, and I'm not really finding much remnants of my old e-mail account other than a few MSTs some cold hearted bitch did and a few sigs on some Guestbooks.
Though I suppose we should all be glad I'm no longer as amused by moving gifs and midis as I used to be.
