The Ultimate Egg Nog of Ultimate Destiny

Not everyone has the fondness for egg nog that I do. I love all of it -- the thick, the thin, alcoholic, even the kind with vanilla spice. Actually, up until about 2 weeks ago I'd never had alcoholic egg nog. Unlike some of my buddies that have sites, I don't feel quite the need to raid the liquor cabinet whenever I start work on something. But, clumsy me decides to add some rum into my egg nog and since it was thick I guess I didn't mix it in as well as I thought I did. I wound up getting a mouthful of what was practically straight rum and made a face that was worthy of making kittens piss themselves in fear. I don't think I'm going to drink again for a while.
This "Ultimate" Egg Nog is quite festive in red and green with just a little sprig of holly on the package. Not terribly kiddish, but definitely appealing to a younger audience in it's little one pint jug. It's a thinner egg nog, and quite chuggable, as the package suggested. So chuggable that I downed the thing in 10 seconds flat. It was delicious. I wish I had another.

I've also LOVE EGGNOG, but never had it with alcohol either. Already drank two cartons this season. Can't wait to buy more. Also saw them making it on the Food Network a few times, but who makes their own eggnog?

OMG I love eggnog more than just about anything else at this time of year, it's my version of the turkey from Christmas Story... my eyes gleam with lust for the nog. I tried a new type of nog this year, it was some famous stuff from San Francisco. Being the SF nut that I am, I could not resist Bud's Egg Nog.. so I bought a carton and went nuts. I was delicious! Thick but not too thick, and sweet, but not rot your teeth sweet... I need to go to Bud's and get some ice cream when it gets warm again! SF and Ice Cream don't mix when it's cold! *whimpers* My sister hates Eggnog and so does the rest of my family, I don't know why I like it. I still don't understand the booze eggnog mix, it's nasty, I tried it once too and it didn't mix at all and tasted like crap! *shrugs*

I tried this Buds eggnog and my wife and I was disappointed. It costed way to much $5 for only a small container. Only about 1 quart. It was not thick enough. I brought it home from my local Safeway and only live 2 minutes away. I put it in the freezer to see if I could chill it for a few minutes. Ok here is my story. My mother took me to a store a long time ago and when the lady was giving away free samples my mom did not say no but that I probably would not like it. It was so deliciuosly sweet and gummy. It melted in my mouth. It was possibly the next best thing to white chocolate. We like buying the Safeway brand egg nog. It is usually at a great price and comes in half gallon containers. When I was still living at home with my parents I was designated to make a quick easy egg nog. Ok if you have all the ingredients you can make this treat all year long. I lost 20 pounds already this year. I am definitely going to treat myself to a dozen tall glasses.

I don't like alcohol in my egg nog. I think it ruins the flavor and there are so many other drinks out there that go better with alcohol. Happy Holidays don't drink and drive.
