It's Cookiemas!
I'm sorry about that emo blog post the other day. I took some Midol and watched Rudolph and felt much better. If nothing else, Christmas can NEVER be as bad as my birthday, which typically blows so hardcore I just try to sleep through it.
There were some things I, unfortunately, didn't get to do this Christmas. The big one was that I couldn't make it out to see Lights in the Parkway, which is a huuuuge light display through one of the parks in Allentown. You pay per car, tune your radio to their special station, and drive through about 20 minutes of all kinds of fantastic animated Christmas displays.
Yesterday I DID make cut-out cookies. I make the hardcore cut-out cookies, not the cheater sugar cookies. The kind where you have to flour the fuck out of everything and make sure everything is freezing cold otherwise there's dough sticking everywhere. Yeah, I could just use an easier recipe, but there's something just extra special about making cookies the way Grammy did.

The reason I love making cut-outs above every other cookie is the decorating. I'm not one for fancy, delicate little pieces of art. I'm all for the smothering shit in frosting and making imperfect little snowflakes in blue icing. I typically make a batch of buttercream icing and then just scoop some out into baggies and squish some food coloring in there until it gets even. Then I nip the tip and DECORATING TIME! I decorate cookies like Easter eggs, that is to say -- I have no clue what the fuck I'm making. I have no gameplan, I just freestyle decorate. But, I have some cute snowmen and Happy Feets and even Pac Man and the Ms up there.
I received an e-mail this week from a reader that cared to inform me that the Adventures in Wonderland Christmas Special is now up on YouTube. Since I wanted to do another Christmas article, and I've been meaning to do a Wonderland review, I just killed two birds with one stone! It's a Christmas miracle!

The Pac Man cookies rock, btw.

Man, even as a huge Alice fan, I could never get into that show. It was too over the top & cheesy for the 7th grader in me I guess. I still remember the theme song though.

It's good to make Pac-Men. Creative use of Hershey Kisses, btw, especially the man with the big chocolate boner. (Or is that doo-doo?)
Oy...Adventures in Wonderland... As much of a Disney Channel fan as I was back in the day, I watched that show repeatedly without remembering much until now.
