Action Figure Makeover: Optimus Prime

Despite having briefly, previously played figural tabletop games, I never actually painted the figures. My first figure customization is something I hope to remember for the rest of my life. This project is something I've been toying with for a while, and I'm glad to see it turn out so well. I'm hoping to make Action Figure Makeover a continuing series, vamping up the superstars of the toy world as I go. Eventually I want to include matching accessories like purses and maybe hats.

This Action Figure Makeover I completed a pink, purple, and red edition of Optimus Prime. It was a fairly time consuming project between hunting down toys, buying paint, painting, waiting for paint to dry, painting more. My hope is to furrow a few brows in the Transformers community. I had a great time working on this, and I hope that shines through in the article.

    Awesome! He's beautiful!!!

Also, you're right. There were never a lot of girly transforming robots. However, I swear I once saw the coolest thing ever: A Sailor Moon Gundam.

On G Gundam (back in the 'day') they featured Gundams from every country ever and one pilot had this Gundam that looked so suspiciously like Sailor V I nearly pissed myself. It had a tiara trick, too. I've been looking for the model kit ever since.

Still, your Optimus is more pertier.

Oh my god, Mystie -- this is freaking blasphemous. It's also bloody fantastic! I shudder to think what would happen if you ever got your hands on a Megatron figure.

    Want.

My bro would let me play with all the K'nex and Legos I wanted to, but the Transformers were off limits. Which wasn't fair, because even a card-carrying, princess-loving, magical pony-coveting, fairy wannabe girly-girl like me can still understand the sheer awesomeness of robots that tranform into vehicles/animals/whatever else those things turned into, I don't care. I just know they were pretty freaking neat and I want a pink one with jewels and a crown or something that still destroys stuff.

Thank you so much for suffering nail polish fumes in an unventilated environment for the sake of making this happen! It looks fantastic.
