Almost time

With my birthday coming up, it's bringing up a lot of memories of 5 years ago when I first went dot com. I was actually dating another webmaster at the time, and gave him very specific instructions that for my birthday he was to buy me mystiesplace.com and set up everything for me. I'd spent over 5 years hopping back and forth on free servers, and it was getting to be too much. If I recall, he paid for my domain for a year and my host for only a month. It was a terrible host, too. They charged me $5 monthly for 100MB of space.

I spent many days in front of the computer I had in his room making billions of screen grabs. He was a pretty hardcore programmer, so he'd be sitting there hand coding mailing lists and calculating out all this crazy trig and I'd be there, banging at my keyboard, "OMG GLO FRIENDS WAS SO FUN LOLOLOLOL!!" Then he'd laugh at me and tell me I was a 14M3R. Boys suck.

The other day I was digging through one of my many junk drawers, and found a floppy disk with my first fanfic on it that I wrote when I was 14. Apparently I didn't own spellcheck at 14. I also wrote in script format. There's a lot of webmasters that refer to things they wrote in their early years as garbage. The thing is, most of them got into the game in adulthood. I still have shit floating around from when I was in middle school. The worst part is at 14 I could write a 6,000 word fanfic without any problems. Now I can't make an article over 600 words without sacrificing a pint of my own blood.
