Happy Fasnacht Day!

Around most of the nation today is Mardi Gras or to some, Fat Tuesday. But here in Pennsylvania Dutch country, today is Fasnacht Day -- a day for eating donuts! Fasnachts are a donut made with potato dough, but you couldn't tell by eating one. In elementary school, they set aside time each Fasnacht Day for us to line up and grab a fasnacht. The teacher would have two plastic bags, one filled with granulated sugar, the other with powdered, and you could pick which bag you wanted your fasnacht to get shaken up in. It was a great tradition that I hear is sadly no longer continued as the school board claims it takes too much time from class and gets the kids riled up.

I guess this means I should start getting my affairs in order as to what my plans are for the Peepdown to Easter. Unfortunately, I don't have much funding this year, especially since I'm considering going back to college next month, but I'm sure I can manage something.

Also if anyone is in the mood to part with their cash in exchange for creepy surreal art, my very good buddy Miss Mariella Story has some of her work up on eBay right now. She's also up for commissions. /plug

I saw GREEN Peeps in stores today. I know they're cheap, but I'm not at luxury to buy them yet. They are out there though.

How ironic that you had donuts for the holiday! I live in New York State, but my Mom bought a dozen Dunkin' Donuts in honor of Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday, something she's NEVER done before! Too cool!
