Skittlebursts

I found some free time in between accidently falling asleep atop a giant innertube in my pool (thank goodness for SPF 50!!) and watching movies and have decided to fill up that time with some blogging. I was out at Wal-Mart today, amidst the afternoon rush on a sunny Saturday and waiting in line to check-out with my case of Vanilla Coke Zero and carton of ice cream. I began looking around because I needed Snickers for this toy article I'm working on. Figure that one out. A display of yellow Skittles caught my eye, and I went to grab them and run back to my cart, knowing that it didn't matter what fucking flavor they were so long as "Limited Edition" was stamped on them. I looked around for more goodies, and dumped some Starbursts in there as well, not noting until afterwards I'd grabbed the pack with the "Optimus Lime" everyone is clamoring about.

Guaranteed that if these didn't release around the same time as the new Transformers movie, "Optimus Lime" would be replaced with "Lime-a-rama-ding-dong" or some other such nonsensical name. I don't think "Disco Berry" warranted much thought, nor did "Psychideli-melon" but "Hey Mango-rena!" is not without its charm. There's nothing much to brag about here, most of the flavors are tart or just plain strange tasting. Stick with the Strawberry there, Starburst.

MUCH more festive is the Carnival Skittles. They have great flavors like Cotton Candy, Red Licorice, Candy Apple, Green Slushy, and Bubblegum. I'm not a big fan of bubblegum flavored anything, which is a shame because when you eat a mouthful of all the Skittles together the bubblegum overpowers all the other flavors. Best is cotton candy, because it tastes just like cotton candy, and not just sugar and blue dye. The whole bag should be cotton candy. Candy apple is pretty appley but i think it tastes a little more like pear than candy apple. Green Slushy is lime. Just lime. Red Licorice is pretty close, but a little too fruity.

Final thought: They should take out the bubblegum Skittles and replace them with funnel cake flavor.
