Of colds and Trix

This cold is being one tough bitch and I'm wondering if it's mad at me for trying to drown it out by drinking over a gallon of water at work when I sensed it coming Wednesday. I don't know why I thought I could somehow drown a cold, I guess I thought maybe germs weren't good swimmers. When you're blonde, these types of things often seem to make sense. I'm still well enough to shuffle about the house making myself chicken soup and Healthy Choice paninis, but my sinuses are congested as fuckall. Though I must say there is a certain odd sense of victory when you blow your nose and a huge solid chunk of crap comes flying out.

Thus the majority of today has been spent watching cartoons while doing menial tasks like paying bills online. Somehow dropping 60 pounds last year made my clothing store credit card balances skyrocket. Go figure. But I was quite distracted from this task as the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3 was on, and I'm the biggest sucker for crossovers. As a child I rented The Jetsons Meet the Flinstones from the local video store no less than 57 times. I geek out every time I watch Muppet Family Christmas and when Gizmoduck came to St Canard in the Darkwing Duck episode Tiff of the Titans, it truly felt like worlds colliding. Crossovers are even something that I can still enjoy as an adult through shows like CSI.

Crossovers even exist in commercials, like in this 1980 Trix cereal commercial where the rabbit disguises himself as Bugs Bunny in another "hare" brained scheme to get a bowl of fruit Trix. At best he looks like he's halfway into a pair of Bugs Bunny footie pajamas, and it's amazing these kids were fooled for half a second. Even a drunken leper can tell the difference between Bugs Bunny and a greyed up Trix rabbit. Still, everyone feels bad for the rabbit because he never seems to get his hands on any Trix. For all we know, there's a very good reason he's not allowed to have Trix. Maybe he reacts the same way on Trix as Doc reacts to whiskey in Back to the Future part 3. Or maybe he just becomes very surly and makes threatening remarks to kittens. Whatever the reason, I'm just glad Trix is back to their old ball shapes.

Just tried to watch the commercial here at work and for some reason I got no sound at all. Daggum work computers!

Anyway, yeah I like me some crossovers too. Hannah Barbara used to have some good ones back in the day, and I always liked it when Scooby Doo would have cool guest stars like Batman and Robin and such. I don't think cartoons really take advantage of that as much as they used too. But then again, I don't think cartoons these days are worth watching by themselves, much less with crossovers.

I do hope you feel better really soon. Aren't you supposed to feed a cold? I don't know...just drink loads of orange juice. That always works for me.

I used to love the Flintstones, and I loved the Jetsons, but after watching each episode 100 times, I just can't bear to watch them anymore.

There used to be a kid show in the 70's show called J.P Patches and he showed HB cartoons, until kid hosts had to show educational cartoons, and it wasn't quite the same.

I don't get the storyline of the commerical. I thought the only way the kids would be fooled is if the trix rabbit changed into a kids costume. Not a costume of ANOTHER rabbit! You thought you had blonde moments.
