It's raining on Prom Night
I was starting my morning routine of dumping Splenda crack tabs in my coffee and listening to Def Leppard blaring from the desk across from me when it was mentioned in passing that Prom Night had opened. I hadn't been to the movies in a fair few weeks, and I had a couple friends I hadn't seen in a while, so I grabbed my desk phone and started dialing. Turns out every single one of my friends was either working, had plans, or was broke. Thus I opted to go it alone!
It was dark and warm when I left and as I was heading out I noticed I had a text message from one DJ D and not wanting to text and drive, I just called him instead. To me it seemed like a pretty normal thing, hell I met up with online friends as early as 14. Some of the ones I had from way back when are even married to their online friends and have kids now and everything. As it turns out, some people still think it's weird when online acquaintances dive into reality. I just thought it was weird that there was a guy walking down the road nearly getting hit when I was trying to drive and talk on my cell while it was beginning to rain.
Before the movie I stopped at Toys R Us and realized the place closes at 9pm and it was 7 minutes of. I had some super secret special shopping to attend to, and managed to get it done in nothing less than record time. Not only that, but I found something so amazing that I forked out $30 on a total whim for a later blog. As I checked out I opted to donate $5 to autistic children because I LOVE THEM 5X MORE THAN MATT!
Despite that the movie came off to me as a bit pretentious, I enjoyed it as best I could. There were parts that seemed to drag on like an episode of Lizzy McGuire, and the PG-13 rating left a lot to be desired. The killer was made far too human and lacked that creepy nearly supernatural feel. Most of the killings didn't even have a decent lead into it, and there was really only one chase scene. All the victims were finished by a throat slashing, so there wasn't even any variety or creativity involved. I've seen more terrifying shit watching CSI. It was definitely a teeny bopper sort of flick.
Odd tidbit -- I never went to prom. My boyfriend was very busy playing Halo and I'm sure he thought it was too conformist to go, anyway. I did manage sucker him into cosplaying with me as Chirico Cuvie and Fyana from Armored Trooper Votoms at Otakon one year. Though my many attempts to get him to grow a devil lock like Danzig were always sadly rejected.

It's okay Mystie, I never went to my prom either. Of course, in my school, it was known as Spring Social, but whatever the case, I never went. I've met a couple people online in person. One was a girl who I thought wanted to be in a relationship with me, but it ended right after it started. Of course, we met right before I deployed to Iraq the first time so that didn't help. Anyway, sorry you had to the see the movie alone, but don't worry, I see movies alone all the time even though I'm more used to it. Also, if anything, I'm just happy you made it home safe with the bad weather! Take care!

Yeah I'm happy about that, too. I don't have the greatest night vision, I'll admit. And with the rain it was pretty dark plus my car was acting funny.... a minute after driving the check engine light went on and I kinda did a typical woman thing. I pulled over, turned it off, and turned it back on. Then the light went off and I drove home.
A few weeks ago I had to skip out on a Wednesday 13 concert in Allentown because I didn't trust myself driving that late in the dark and the rain.

I didn't go to prom, either. But I did go to the post-prom party that was at a bowling alley. We had pizza, contests, a hypnotist, "gambling" games where you could earn fake money for prizes. I even won 50 bucks in one of the contests. It was fun.

I went to prom and then got busted for having a bad GPA. You had to get this paper signed to say you were okay to go, I did that. I ended up sewing a black wedding dress and wearing my combat boots (real ones from an army surplus store not some lame Docs). I got this cool Baroque looking jewelry and off I went. It was fun honestly. I am so not the type to go to events like that but my friends dragged me along and it turned out good. My vice principal that chewed me out for going was arrested for armed robbery of a liquor store that summer and ended up working for Roto-Rooter. True story. Don't fuck with me and my prom. I am glad you made it home safe in the rain. I always hate driving in rain after dark. Seeing movies alone. I used to make pilgrimage into SF to see movies at an indie movie house alone. This one time I went to see this older French flick and I swear I was the only one in the audience that didn't speak French and I was certainly the only person under 50. That was a bit lonely and creepy. Ick on the lame PG-13 teen slasher. I hope you have a date or a friend to go with next time and hopefully it'll be a better movie too!

So sorry you couldn't find someone to go to the movies with. I go all the time by myself and usually enjoy it, but sometimes I'm in the mood for company. I go with my cousin a lot cause we're both big into comics so we see all the comic booky type crap together.
Yeah, sorry if I was kind of taken back when you called. I was at work and making lunch for myself in the break room while trying to listen to an announcement that my boss was making to the whole office at the same time, so my attention was a little divided. Feel free to call up anytime. You're pretty rad, so if I was gonna talk to somebody in "real life" on a regular basis that I met online, you're in that short list.
As for Prom, I went by myself mostly cause I was getting over the chicken pox (at 18, no less) and my face was all poxed up, so it was kinda hard to find a date. I stayed for about an hour and got offered what I'm sure was a pity dance by some really tall girl. It was a slow one and I think I was stepping all over her feet the whole time. I split from there pretty quick and went to a friend's house. She wasn't home so I hung out with her family and at speghetti.
Man, I'm glad I'm soooo much cooler now.
