Game Tasters

It seems games these days are getting much smaller, perhaps in an effort to shove another few dozen versions of Sorry! down the consumers' throats. Games are getting a lot more complicated these days, involving DVD players and backflips just to play some of them. I sadly don't get to play as many board games as perhaps I'd like, but maybe that's just because I've still got a fair amount of party in me. If my Friday nights turn from drunken affairs to a cuddly night at home watching Return of the Jedi and playing Forbidden Bridge over a bag of Baked Cheetos, I'd be totally down for it. Though technically speaking, I can still do that while completely shitfaced.

I don't think I put down more than $5 on this gem, and I'm hoping to get a lot of use out of it. These "Game Tasters" come in Scattergories, Taboo, Pictionary, and Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's. No contest -- I had to get Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's. The game canister is roughly the size of a Pringles Grab and Go can (the larger one, not the smaller) and is small enough to conceivably fit in a purse provided you don't carry one of those prissy tiny purses that don't fit more than a checkbook and a tampon. It comes with trivia cards, a die, game wedges, instructions, and a $3 off coupon for the full-size game. It's the kind of game you don't feel weird about bringing along to everything from bars to baby showers, at least if you hang out with the kind of people that know what the top-selling imported beer was in the U.S. throughout the '80s.

... it was Heineken.

On an additional note, my tattoo is healing well and doesn't hurt in the least bit. I'm amazed at my own ability to multi-task today, though. I worked overtime, came home and managed to simultaneously take blog photos, get fresh air, make dinner, plan for the weekend, and have an hour-long conversation with one of my girlfriends on all the hot female topics from the Lean Cuisine vs Smart Ones debate to the upcoming Sex and the City movie.

Also, I got caught in the crossfire of an office watergun battle today. These are the kind of problems you WANT to have.

Seriously, Lean Cuisine hands down. Smart Ones suck goat balls and not in a good way.

I'm so down for Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's game. Bring it.

Thanks for the idea btw. I see an office water gun battle at work in the near future now.

God yes on the office water gun fights! I like Lean Cuisine better than Smart Ones as well. They have flavor.

I am not a board game fan but I do love a good game of Trivial Pursuit. I also like Cranium which could definitely turn crazy if your smashed. It involves humming, charades, molding clay, drawing, spelling and other junk. Definitely fun in a group setting. I have also heard Apples to Apples is fun, but I have never played it.
