Big things, little packages.
Success!
My mailbox was full of wonderment today. I was expecting to come home and happily find a new Netflix movie waiting for me. I've been heavily craving campy horror movies lately and I'm lucky enough to have a 'net buddy that's not only well versed in the subject, but was amped to give me recommendations. I was anticipating the arrival of Sleepaway Camp 2, but somehow got skipped down to Halloween. Since I'm a woman of widely varying interests from vampires to sewing decorative pillows, I also received something on the exact opposite side of the spectrum in the mail.

Bella Sara cards!
A few weeks ago the good people at Hidden City Games came across my blog and sent me a cute little love note in which they offered to send me some freebies. It made me extra glad I decided not to swear in my Bella Sara article, discounting the use of the word "penis" two sentences in. Today I received an envelope with a wonderful personal letter, a bag with some cards selected just for me, and an unopened pack of the new Native Lights collection.
It looks like grand things have indeed happened in the World of Bella Sara, including a mass revamp of bellasara.com! I'm eager to find out what I can trade in all my Horseshoes for to decorate my cottage with. I didn't even realize I had a cottage! I'm stoked now, I can't wait to see what kind of new fun stuff the site has. I'm even more stoked that the cards are becoming more mythological in nature, even taking on the same names as various Gods and Goddesses. The Native Lights collection is apparently Native American-inspired -- full of dreamcatchers, spirit animals, and the likes. I just hope Bella Sara doesn't wind up catching a bad rap like D&D used to have.
Another awesome surprise in the mail? A $400 refund check from Reading Area Community College. It seems that my grant was retroactive and paid for some of the classes I'd paid out of pocket early on. It's also Google Adsense deposit day! It seems I've got a fair chunk of money burning a hole in my pocket. I should do the adult thing and put it towards the money set aside for a down payment on a newer car (I'm thinking of getting a Vibe or maybe a G6), but I've got the desire to run far, far, away. I even have 36 hours of paid time-off stored up. The only catch is I won't go anywhere if I have to drive. I've been wanting to get to the Philadelphia Zoo but I won't drive because I'm convinced I'll die on the way there.
Perhaps I should stick to taking a bus trip. Suggestions?

Very awesome on the random arrival of the letter and the nifty packs of Bella Sara. I was verily happy to see them doing well. I see plenty of my share of the male CCG frenzy. I don't mean the kiddy CCG stuff either... the queen mother of adult guy CCG silliness.... L5R. Nothing like a room full of guys then the occasional girl in a very sultry kimono costume (just not necessarily a sultry girl in said costume, though sometimes there is). That tends to be the way of L5R.
I'd say you should fly to Cal and let me give you the grand S.F. tour.... but I am working and then leaving in 3 1/2 weeks to go work my summer job in Yellowstone. You said you wanted to go somewhere where you don't have to drive. SFO... BART... MUNI... fly, train, bus... you don't remotely need a car to get around. Anyways I hope you end up doing something fun with your traveling bug. I am always happy to see people that like to travel, because I never stop. Granted most of my travels involve CA in one form or another (SLO, SF, LA, SD... so far this year). It's still fun to get out even if it is close to home.
