Shopping therapy & Undercover Orange

One of the many truths about being a woman is that we're emotional, hormonal beings and from time to time will cry for absolutely no reason. I don't know if it's just because it's that time of the month, but I could sure as hell use an emotional douche right now. If watching Clueless 5,000 times through my teenage years has taught me anything, it's that feeling wretched will be cured by shopping. After having to spend my Saturday working overtime instead of sipping Kool-Aid in front of the TV, I was in dire need of shopping therapy.

The morning and a good chunk of my afternoon was spent doing the usual. 10 minutes into work I randomly began a loud, caterwauling rendition of "Don't Stop Believing" across my section of the office. I checked on my two remaining Sea Monkeys, spun my chair in circles, went over to the window and watched the cows race around, watched desks get trashed, flicked rubber bands, talked about movies, and oh yeah, I did some work. I honestly do work hard, I just have a lot of fun doing it. I also added She-Ra to my office curio! I need way more toys for that thing.

Once work was over I headed towards Target. I suppose department stores are my Rodeo Drive. Really, what could be better than a place that sells Jones Soda, tiny plastic horses, and the entire first season and second of Pee-Wee's Playhouse for $20? Do you KNOW how many more articles I can write with Pee-Wee's Playhouse playing in the background? You can not fathom. If only I had more weekends open to actually write them...

Today was not a Jones Soda day. Today was an even better soda day! A tie-in soda day! Sierra Mist has come out with Undercover Orange in celebration of the upcoming Get Smart movie! I'm pumped for this one, I was a huge Nick-at-Nite fan as a kid and spent way too many hours attached to the TV watching Get Smart. And who doesn't love Steve Carell? I'll admit, I've only seen a handful of episodes of The Office, though I love it as all people who have ever worked in a dysfunctional office do. But I have seen many other features, all completely fantastic. I can't think of anyone more fitting to play Maxwell Smart. Not a one.

As for the soda, I only bought the "free" version because I don't drink regular soda. Yet I have no problem downing a pack of M&Ms for review. Figure that one out. I wouldn't say Sierra Mist is ever my first choice of soda, but I'm no stranger to it, especially during the holiday season when the cranberry version is available. Undercover Orange has a nice orangey feel like they tossed a few orange Lifesavers into the brew and still maintains that crisp, refreshing taste we've come to expect from clear sodas.  The packaging is a crisp as well, featuring some pretty simple headshots of Maxwell Smart and Agent 99.

I bought some other things out on my excursion through Target and then over to the mall. I was going to buy some cute shoes, but I have a hard enough time buying shoes without the added difficulty that I was wearing sneakers. I love my Vans. Total I picked up soda, Pee-Wee's Playhouse DVD set #1, Legos, a VNV Nation t-shirt, a pin declaring my love for dinosaurs, clothes, and a black heart necklace on a silver chain. My lust for silver heart-shaped jewelry will never cease!

Now it's getting ready to storm, so I'm going to pop my contacts out before my eyes explode, take some sinus meds and curl up and watch movies. Happy Saturday!

I saw VNV Nation in Philly once and it was awesome. The singer kept rubbing a bald audience member's head.

If you like VNV Nation, you should check out Apoptygma Berserk. Although, if you're a fan of VNV, you probably already know about Apop. They kind of go hand in hand and are always remixing each others' stuff. I can't imagine liking one and not liking the other.

OH my fucking god! You have a Captain Caveman toy at work... that is so random! I so watched random shit on Nick-at-Nite back in the day as well. I liked Donna Reed for whatever reason... yeah I was strange. I so need to send you a random picture of the crap on my computer and on my loaned CRT (I broke my flat screen). I think you would appreciate it.
