City Critters

I have been a little absent lately, but I suppose that's just the ups and downs of being a one-woman-show. I'm in quite the transitional phase right now since a fair chunk of my article-writing time is done on the weekends and now I pretty much have the boyfriend living with me all weekend. Needless to say, there's some restructuring going on in the newsroom. Plus since I've gotten a few elbows lately, maybe I should just go ahead and get this out of my system...

Hi I'm Mystie! My life is totally perfect. I have a job I love, amazing friends, a fantastic boyfriend that worships me like a goddess (and comments on my blog!), and I just bought a shiny shiny new car with a sunroof.

Alright, let's talk about cute toys.

Jim Henson's City Critters have been out for a while now, but I just discovered them last weekend when I visited my local comic book shop. The characters are based off various doodles and drawings from Jim Henson. There's 8 un-named characters in all and they're all multi-colored and look like they'd fit right in with the monsters on Sesame Street and are perhaps even reminiscent of Where the Wild Things Are. I'm not usually one to hop on the random PVC figure bandwagon, especially when they're $8 and blind boxed, but I love all things Henson.

The first one to catch my eye was the one I did, in fact, receive. He looks like a demented version of Woodstock from Peanuts. I think I'll call him Hoodstock. I love these figures so much, I want them to make their own cereal so I can eat them for breakfast.

Awww, These are SO RAD AND CUTE! There's a place in Santa Cruz that sells these things, I'm so going to see if they have some there! I'm such a sucker for the collector/blidn boxed comic toys- I have a munky zipper pull (glows in teh dark!) and a flaming Bunny I'm so going to make a Hssxlllo/Hare skit with.

Those are frickin' awesome!! He is totally a demented Woodstock! Speaking of demented Peanuts characters...

The city of Santa Rosa is full of these large figures based on either Charlie Brown, Joe Cool, or Woodstock. They had local artists paint them for this summer festival thingy and since Charles Schultz was huge in the community they did Peanuts statues (let alone he has a library and airport named after him, he helped build the local ice rink, there's the Charles Schultz museum and his pics can be found in several local businesses including Applebee's). If you're bored look them up, they are pretty darn cool to say the least. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cannellfan/1844298987

I am envious of your life but in a good way, I am glad you are doing so well... well okay I am jealous of the car... SUPER jealous... though I am hoping to get a car next month *crosses her fingers* I love the random little PVC figures but I just can't seem to get myself to spend that much on something so random... though for Jim stuff it's almost worth it... sadly I am still stuck in WY (well not sadly at all honestly). I may also have to hit up Santa Cruz when I get back to CA and look for some of those funky little Henson figs... tooooo cute!!
