Ecto-Wine-Cooler

It's been a long time since we've seen Hi-C try to bring back Ecto Cooler much like they did with Shoutin' Orange Tangergreen. I've stared at the juice aisle with a heavy heart far too many times now. One more time, and I was just going to break down and cry. That's when I remembered Ecto Cooler is nothing more than mandarin orange juice with some green food coloring. Surely I could find some mandarin orange juice and add a little green dye into the mix. Heck, I could even put my own spin on it.

That's when I decided to make Ecto Wine Cooler. Now, I know absolutely nothing about mixing drinks. I've been known to just make some crazy shit up involving ice tea and whatever liquor I have just to feel a little more "adult" about my beverage. But I believe I get the general idea of mixed drinks -- take some alcohol and drown it out with juices. Going with the theme of Ecto Cooler I opted to mix it up with some Absolute Mandarin vodka. Now, the portions really depend on how much of an alchie you are. I will say that I did go a little overboard on the green dye and got a color that was a little too deep to be true to the original. The end result is the most nostalgic mixer you'll ever have that coincindentally is fantastic enough to center your punchbowl at parties.

And now.... I'm too drunk to write anymore.

Coming up! Mini Teddy Grahams! Batman edibles! More alcohol! M&Ms!

Oh, sweetheart, no. A good cocktail makes the alcohol pop in your mouth, matches the atmosphere, sets off the flavor of life.

(Okay, I may be crazy. But there's more to mixed drinks than hiding the alcohol. Drinking to get drunk is like having sex to get pregnant. There are better reasons.)

You are a hero to Ecto drinkers everywhere for this I am sure. Since most people that can remember Ecto are probably over 21 at this point. I couldn't tell you what is what when it comes to cocktails but I think it's a cute idea to make an Ecto cocktail. Wow I am tired for no apparent reason. Good call on the green food coloring as well.

This reminds me of my friend Harrison experimenting with tea and comming up with the Clear Lake boba. It involved green tea powder, bo-nay tea, and lots of boba... and some other random junk. It just had this rank green color like the lake I grew up on, hence the name.
