Fall tidings

I had a taste of autumn air the other day and I liked it. I had a blast this summer, but I'm getting ready for some Fall action. I've got a hankering for changing leaves, long-sleeve shirts, and dinners of grilled cheese and tomato soup. Thus far there's still summer weather and the only sign of Fall I'm getting is the illnesses that go along with the season. What started as a sore throat during the weekend was diagnosed as tonsillitis which I've been using as the perfect excuse to snarf down ice cream.

On my way to the pharmacy to drop off a prescription for antibiotics I passed by a sign at Rita's claiming they now have Pumpkin Pie flavored ice. It piqued my interest enough to stop and consider ordering one. When I found out they had "Pumpkin Pie ala Mode" Blendinis I was completely sold. The ice was mixed with vanilla gelato and pieces of spicy, cinnamon graham bits. I know it sounds like it could be a miss, but it was a total hit. It tasted just like pumpkin pie batter with pieces of crust. It's perfect for this end-of-Summer-beginning-of-Fall limbo that we're in.

Blendinis sound magical. Starbucks brought back pumpkin spice lattes this week. Now we just have to wait for the eggnog.

You're just in the wrong state for fall. It's been fall in Yellowstone for weeks now. It's been frosting at night and in the 20's since August. Then again you would miss summer since it was still snowing in June... I've never seen a Rita's in my life... looks like I am missing out. All I have to say is yay at the sheer amount of peppermint flavored drinks and baking and yeah... alas I shall have to wait another couple months before I can partake of the nog... I refuse to have egg nog before Thanksgiving.

Ugh at tonsillitis... that is nasty stuff. I loathe the sick season.. and I am sorry to hear you caught one of the delightful illnesses that seems to float around this time of year. I was noting that this summer seemed relatively sickness free, then we got hit with a flu bug to end all flu bugs from some sick tour bus.

Fall is my second favorite season in Cal. It cools down and we just get TONS of birds migrating through the area that are amazing to watch. We don't get the nice color changes in the tree foliage since we're mainly oaks and conifers. I am hoping to see some color in mid-October when I am in Georgia this year. They have some nice foliage changes from what I've heard, so I am looking forward to seeing something fallish for the first time in my life. I did see a cardinal last time I was in Atlanta so I feel like I saw a nice sign of winter even though it was like the 4th of July when I saw the thing. You'd probably laugh at my West Coast life if you saw me on your end of the country. OMG FIREFLIES!! *freaks* Yeah... sad truth. Which is just funny because I see like bison and elk on a daily basis and I just shrug while a million people pull of the road all crazy to snap a few photos. Wow I should not leave you messages when I am tired. Eep!
