Holidays

Well it's 2009 and I'm just wrapping up the advent calendar. The goals for this year are pretty standard -- lose weight, get an apartment, get the finances straightened out, and learn some new skills. I've been perusing the "personal enrichment" type classes at the community college and I'm thinking about taking Reiki or maybe Tai Chi as well as brushing up on my Spanish. I feel like an ass for having taken 3 years of Spanish in High School and forgetting all of it, especially working in a city that's nearly half Hispanic. I think I'm also going to make an effort to update more, even if it's just blogs ranting about how much I love Mr. Bubble. In fact, I think I'll start right now. Here's a belated Christmas commercial.

In 1987 the holiday themed M&Ms were simply called "Holidays" and the Christmas edition came in red and green with festive prints on them instead of the "m" stamp we're currently familiar with. In this commercial, a little girl is visiting Santa and shares a handful of Holidays chocolates with him. While Santa is enjoying the chocolate treat, the girl unrolls a 20 foot parchment detailing her wishlist in crayon, everything from a record player to a jump rope. She even included some illustrations to help St. Nick along.

Holiday M&Ms have since evolved to seven different types and there's now two shades of green and even white candies in the mint variety. I still prefer those plain chocolates stamped with trees and bells that used to fill up my grandma's candy dish at Christmas. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, but I'm not paying $20 to custom print M&Ms to look like Holidays.

My great-aunt used to do the same thing-fill up a candy dish every Christmas with M&M's. I always loved that and this year I got my first very own candy dish. It's sitting on a table next to my tiny Christmas tree. I vowed that I would fill it up with Peanut M&M's before X-Mas, but never got round to it. I'm still gonna do it though. That will be my official last hurrah to the Christmas season. Once that candy dish is empty, I'll know it's all over.

Well, you have some similar goals to that of mine like loosing weight, and owning an apartment, for this year. And all this could be targeted until christmas 2009.

Hope i could reach my targets for the year,

    Thanks for sharing,
    Sam
